SAN ANGELO, Texas — The regular season is winding down for college baseball, with the Angelo State Rams entering their final homestand of the year.
ASU kicks off a 4-game series against Eastern New Mexico (ENMU) tonight, after a grueling 12-game stretch that saw the Rams face three high quality conference opponents, including a ranked St. Edward’s team.
ASU was able to win 11 of their 12 games against Texas A&M-Kingsville, St. Edward’s and West Texas A&M, with 8 of those wins coming on the road.
As the Rams look ahead to the postseason with just 8 games remaining, head coach Kevin Brooks just wants the chance to make it back to the College World Series.
“We just want to get in the playoffs,” Brooks said. “Where you play, all that stuff, does not matter. It’s how you play that day.”
Brooks and his ASU squad know that their recent stretch of tough games, including their upcoming series, have helped them develop into a team that could make a deep run into the postseason.
“I think (the recent stretch of games) does help build some attributes that are needed to be successful in the postseason,” Brooks said. “We’re excited about getting to take on a really good Eastern New Mexico team this weekend and see if we can’t continue to improve.”
First pitch between ASU and ENMU is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tonight from ASU’s Foster Field.
