Legal aid clinic opened at Langthabal

The 18th legal aid clinic of Imphal West was opened today at Ibudhou Pakhangba Community Hall, Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai .
Imphal West's District and Sessions Judge M Manojkumar, who is also the chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West graced the function as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the legal aid clinic .
A one-day legal awareness programme was also conducted in connection with the inaugural function in which Sumati Sougrakpam (secretary, All Manipur Students' Parents Association) and Lamkhanpao Tonsing (Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West) attended as the president and guest of honour respectively .
Speaking to reporters on the sideline of the function, M Manojkumar said that the legal aid clinic was open with the objectives to spread legal awareness to the common masses and settle issues received by the legal aid clinic in its jurisdiction by mediators/para legal volunteers before it reached the Court .
He informed that there are eight para legal volunteers in the legal aid clinic .
He also urged poor and needy persons to approach the legal aid clinics in the State when they need help and support assuring that the legal aid clinics will intervene to deliver justice.
