New Hampshire National Guard troops continue 'Operation Lone Star' at southern border
More than a dozen members of the New Hampshire National Guard are at the southern border in Texas, helping with security.
The troops have been down there helping for the last month and said it's been an eye opening experience.
"The cartels, they're called coyotes. We watch them go back and forth, kind of finding places where they can get families over," said Pfc. MacKenzi Connors.
The National Guard troops serve as additional eyes for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
"So, we when we see them come through, we report it, we call up DPS, we have them take it from there. We sit with them and make sure they're not running away," said Spc. Kayli Gilman.

The troops are on the line in Eagle Pass, right on the Rio Grande River. The Texas Military Department said they're helping prevent illegal immigration, human trafficking and transnational criminal activity.
"It's definitely eye-opening. It's a completely different world down here," said Sgt. First Class Cameron Holt-Corti.
The group of New Hampshire National Guard troops will be down helping with security at the southern border until the beginning of June.
