Residents of new settlements in Bishkek receive free legal aid

Bishkek, Oct.31, 2019. /Kabar/. Bus of Solidarity campaign took place in Bishkek on Oct. 24-26 within the framework of the Promotion of Social and Gender Equality to Prevent Conflicts in New Settlements project, Director of the Center for Coordination of State-Guaranteed Legal Aid (CCSGLA) Akzhol Kalbekov told during the press conference at Kabar News Agency.

He said the main purpose of the campaign was to provide legal information to the population and legal advice free of charge.

“Within the framework of the action, legal assistance was provided to more than 300 citizens. Mainly, the questions of registration of land plots, inheritance, divorce process, pension, etc. were of concern to the applicants. The event was organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), UNFPA, UNICEF and the Kyrgyz Bar Association, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Mayor's Office and the State Registration Service (SRS),” Kalbekov said.

Member of the Kyrgyz Bar Council and curator of the State Legal Aid Act Cholpon Temirbayeva said such campaigns on the advice of the population are very important and it would be good to hold such actions at least once a quarter.

Gulbarchyn Turdubayeva, chief specialist of the SRS Department of Certification and Registration of the Population, said during the action, the Department's specialists consulted more than 100 people on how to obtain documents, passports and certificates.

Deputy Head of the Social Development Department of the Bishkek Mayor's Office Larisa Gubina noted more than 72 citizens were consulted during the action on social issues.

“In general, residents of new settlements were aware of the state policy in the field of social development, and we have only given advice on how to facilitate access to public services,” Gubina said.
